My jewelry is an expression of my
delight in the rich colors and textures in stone and glass, and the weight of
silver, brass, and gold in my hand. A deep respect for these elements guides me
in my designs. I especially enjoy designing with unique pieces from around the
world. Valuing the work of artisans from other countries is a way for my customers
and me to be part of our global community.
I have found that my jewelry is also a means for me to connect with others and
to help people connect with each other. Discussing a custom piece and creating
just what customers want draws me into relationships that give additional meaning
to my work. I love to see the excitement of a customer helping to design a personal,
unique gift for someone special to them.
Increasingly, my work is also an extension of contributions I am able to make.
I have designed a series of Breast
Cancer Awareness pieces
and donate a percentage of each sale to the fight against breast cancer. After
the tsunami that ravaged Southeast Asia in 2004, I created a bracelet
fashioned from stones that originate in that area of the world. Contributions
from sales went to the South Asia Crisis Relief Fund through UNICEF. Currently
I am working on a new line of Strands of Hope necklaces. These necklaces
will be made by any group of women who want to empower other women through a gift
of compassion, love and hope.
